A Message From the Principal, Mrs. Kim Wright

Welcome to Capshaw School!

Welcome to Capshaw Elementary. Capshaw School was built in 1939 to relieve the overcrowding at the existing City School. Today Capshaw houses approximately 600 students in grades K-4 and employs 35 teachers. Teachers balance commitment to student success with opportunities for students to become independent and take ownership for their learning. Our mission is to exceed state academic standards while demonstrating exemplary citizenship. Capshaw is rich in technology, enjoys an innovative music program that encourages student participation in choral and string instrumentation, and has been recognized as a Gold Level Nutrition School in the Healthier US School Challenge. Finally, parents are encouraged to take an active role and share the responsibility to help children reach their fullest potential by volunteering in the school.
